Casimir - Early Works - expo

Etre Moderne reunites the early 1990s till 2002 work of furniture artist Casimir. In the early 1990s, the notion of Belgian design that we take for granted today was far from established. A designer presenting a personal collection with a distinctive story and identity was still something of an exception. It was within this context that Casimir developed a distinctive visual language, in which form, function and craftsmanship are constantly brought into dialogue. His designs exist on the boundary between furniture and object: recognisable yetunsettling, functional but never self-evident. Casimir plays with expectations and meaning, leaving room for ambiguity. The result is work that cannot easily be confined to a single function or interpretation.
